Blessed summer coming to a close

As we near the end of another beautiful (and very hot!) summer here on Long Island, our Trinity community has so much goodness from the Lord to be thankful for.

Not long ago (though it feels like ages now), people gathered without a second thought about health or physical safety. But we have faced immense challenges over the past few years that make us truly appreciate the ability to meet with a loved one, spend time in fellowship over coffee, or hug a friend at church. These are gifts to treasure, even as we keep looking out for each other’s wellbeing and honor our differing comfort levels.

We had a truly blessed summer as a church. Among the blessings we witnessed: God working healing through the hands of surgeons; new lives delivered safely into His world; children marked in baptism with His name and covenant promises; public professions of Christian faith; gatherings for fun and fellowship at the beach, in backyard feasts, at retreats, and in many other settings.

And while God has already been so good to us, we look forward to all He has yet in store. We’re already planning further gatherings for “The T,” our young adult ministry; our first men’s retreat in October; and our second annual “Eve of Christmas Eve” caroling event. We look forward to serving alongside our ministry partners, including Christ’s Calling as they reach the youth of Long Island in shelters; Soundview Pregnancy as they care for expecting mothers who feel trapped without help; and Timothy Hill Ranch in Riverhead. We know God’s goodness may come in other, completely unexpected forms, whether in prosperity or challenges.

We hope your summer was full of loving community, wherever you may have found it. To our brothers and sisters at Trinity: let’s not forget to stand together in thanking God for all the blessings He saw fit to give us in these months. And let’s get ready – more gifts are in store, and there’s so much to give, as we love our neighbors and serve Christ’s kingdom in the weeks ahead.
